K B C PROFILE
The Kentucky Blasting Conference held its first meeting in 1973 with approximately 100
attendees at the Holiday Inn in Lexington, Kentucky and was described as the first organized
technical conference devoted to the blasting and explosives in the USA.   Since that time, it
has grown to a nationally recognized technical conference attracting over 700 attendees
representing all parts of the industry.
The conference has been approved as meeting the requirements for up to nine hours of
blaster retraining in Kentucky as well as several other states such as: Tennessee, Virginia,
Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Ohio.  Blasters from other states should contact the regulatory
agency in their states to determine its acceptance.  The conference will provide adequate
documentation of attendance for those who need it.
Co-Sponsored by the Bluegrass Chapter and the Tristate Chapter of the International Society
of Explosive Engineers.
Both chapters will have a business meeting on Thursday afternoon at the Conference.    All
current and prospective members are invited to attend.

present an interactive workshop on Underground Blasting.  This
workshop will be held on Thursday in the Elkhorn ballroom near
the registration desk.  It  is designed to  be a small scale classroom
type seminar which will allow more time for question and answer

Paul Sterk, John Lee Turner, and Mike Koehler
This is part 2 of a seminar which was begun last year.  It will include an in-depth

a review of V-cut designs, perimeter control, primer selection, and explosive
properties that are important for such blasting.
